Anthony served our country in the Army National Guard. He dedicated nine
years serving within an organization founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta,
dedicated to serving people who were suffering. He served families
displaced by the civil war in El Salvador from 1982 to 1985.
After receiving his master’s degree in social work from San Francisco State
University in 1994, Anthony served schools and communities for 30 years in
the area of gang and violence prevention and Restorative Justice Practices.
Anthony served as a Senior Manager for the Whole Child and Community
Design Department in the San Diego County Office of Education where he
worked for the past 26 years and retired in July of 2024. Over the past 12
years Anthony served as the Lead Trainer and Coach for Restorative Justice
Practices for schools in San Diego County and trained over 12,000
educators. Anthony is the founder and Executive Director for Building
Restorative Communities, LLC where he provides training and support for
schools and organizations to develop restorative strategies that help to
restore people’s human dignity, their sense of belonging, and value in the
community.
